Jeffrey J. Emmi, D.M.D.
Providing premier dentistry with a personal touch for over 17 years, Dr. Jeffrey Emmi feels that the most rewarding part of his job is interacting daily with his patients and staff. Born in Wilmington, Dr. Emmi earned his Doctorate in Dental Medicine from the Temple University School of Dentistry in 1990. He subsequently founded Smile Solutions by Emmi Dental Associates based on his personal practice philosophy that when a dentist makes the effort to "treat people nice and do good dentistry, everything else seems to fall in line." To ensure he remains at the forefront of modern dentistry, each year Dr. Emmi takes more than the number of continuing education hours required by the state dental board. He has served as President of the Delaware Academy of General Dentistry and is a member of the Delaware State Dental Society and the American Dental Association. In his spare time, Dr. Emmi enjoys participating in sports, including golf, fishing, and tennis, and he takes particular pleasure in spending time with his wife, two daughters, and son.
Trevor Scheff, D.D.S.
Dr. Trevor Scheff prides himself in providing a comfortable, educational dental experience for each patient he sees. Born in Cincinnati, young Trevor Scheff was raised in Memphis until he reached the age of 12 and his family moved to Delaware, where Dr. Scheff, his father, mother, and sister reside today. In 2005 he graduated from the University of Maryland's Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, America's first dental college, and has gone on to gain membership in the Delaware State Dental Society, the American Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. In his free time, Dr. Scheff is an avid sports fan (particularly of Philadelphia-based teams), enjoys golf, soccer, and fantasy football. Dr. Scheff and his fiancée Jaimee are eagerly anticipating their impending nuptials, scheduled for summer 2008.
Nathaniel J. Bent, D.D.S.
Dr. Nathaniel Bent joined Smile Solutions by Emmi Dental Associates in 2005 and is currently an active member of the Delaware State Dental Society, The American Academy of General Dentistry, and The American Dental Association. Dr. Bent considers it a privilege to be in a position to improve his patients’ quality of life through exceptional, comprehensive oral health care. He personally strives to deliver esthetic, functional dentistry while meeting each patient’s needs and desires in a relaxed, comfortable environment. Born in Nova Scotia, Canada, he moved with his family to the United States at age 9, residing in Long Beach, California and Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Bent studied at Saint Mary’s College of Maryland and completed his graduate studies at University of Maryland’s Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 2004, then moved to Wilmington, Delaware to complete his residency at Wilmington Hospital. In his spare time Dr. Bent enjoys traveling, outdoor activities, music, and art appreciation.
Laura Dougherty, D.D.S.
The latest member of the Smile Solutions by Emmi Dental Associates is Dr. Laura A. Dougherty, who finds that the most rewarding aspects of her chosen career are being able to help ensure patients have a comfortable dental experience and seeing her patients gain confidence when they see their newly restored, beautiful smiles. Born and raised in Delaware's Sussex County, Dr. Dougherty earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from the University of Delaware in 2001 before going on to study dentistry at the University of Maryland's Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, achieving her Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree in 2006. After completing her General Practice Residency with the Christiana Care Dental Residency Program, she went into private practice and joined Smile Solutions by Emmi Dental Associates in 2007. A member of the American Dental Association, the Delaware Academy of General Dentistry, and the Delaware State Dental Society, Dr. Dougherty resides in North East, Maryland with her daughter Paige.
