Types of Dental Implants
We offer two types of dental implants at our Wilmington, DE, practice. Traditional dental implants each offer unique benefits, allowing us to treat a wider range of patients. If you are suffering with a compromised smile, and would like to learn how dental implants can improve your quality of life, our team of experienced dentists will help you determine which type of implant is best for your needs. To learn more, contact us today and schedule a consultation with one of our dentists.
Traditional implants are typically three to six millimeters in diameter. They require a special abutment piece that connects the implant to your crown, bridge, or denture. After placement, patients must heal for four to six months before receiving a permanent restoration. We can provide temporary restorations in the meantime. Traditional dental implants are very durable. However, you must have sufficient jawbone tissue to support traditional implants. If you have waited to address missing teeth, and have experienced some degree of bone atrophy, our dentists can perform a bone graft to restore an ample base for your implants.
Choosing the Right Implants for Your Needs
Our dentists will work with you to create a customized dental implant treatment plan. This includes helping you decide which type of implant is right for your smile. When you undergo implant treatment at our practice, we will carefully examine your medical history, the current state of your smile, aesthetic goals, and financial concerns. Insurance rarely covers the entire cost of dental implants, but we can help you afford treatment with CareCredit℠ financing. Our staff is glad to explain the terms of this option, which helps many patients place the cost of dental implants comfortably within their budgets.
